Building Healthy Lifestyles in All Directions
Building Healthy Lifestyles in All Directions is a multi-facted approach to reduce childhood obesity in Cabarrus County. This program implements: Nutrition and Physical Acivity Self-Assessment for Child Care (NAP-SACC), Color Me Healthy, Eat Play and Grow, Healthy Futures in the Kitchen in child care centers.
In an effort to reduce the risk of childhood obesity, Department of Public Health Sciences Professor Beth Racine is working with local childcare centers to implement the Building Healthy Lifestyles in All Directions program. The Partnership has contracted with UNC Charlotte to implement this program in order to stop issues with weight before they start and to create healthy eating and exercise habits.
Eat Play Grow
Eat Play Grow combines the latest science and research to engage families and provide helpful tips around nutrition, physical activities and sleep patterns. Families in this program attend monthly workshops that consist of fun activities that teach parents and young children about the importance of nutrition, exercise and sleep.
