Kindergarten & Pre-K Information
Cabarrus County Schools (CCS) and Kannapolis City Schools (KCS) are currently registering kindergarteners for the 2020-21 school year. On each of the following web pages, you can find important information on the registration process for the school system your child will go to.
CCS: Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten Registration for the 2020-2021 school year continues now through June 23rd. Parents will register using our new online tool, making it easy to register your student from the convenience of home. Children who are 5 years old on or before August 31, 2020, are eligible to register for kindergarten. We are excited to welcome the Class of 2033!
CCS Program Choice Registration
Kindergarten Program Choice applications are now open! Program Choice applications for kindergarten students will be accepted from April 1-April 30, 2020. Program Choice is the opportunity for families to choose an instructional style or theme that best fits their student with 15 programs offered in grades 6-12 and six programs available for kindergarten students. School assignment is determined by a student’s address.
KCS: Kindergarten Registration
Kannapolis City Schools welcomes you and your child to Kindergarten for 2020-2021. Any child who reaches the age of five years old on or before August 31, 2020 is eligible to register.
Cabarrus county nC Pre-K
In response to the State of Emergency regarding the Coronavirus, the Cabarrus Partnership for Children, Cabarrus County Schools and Kannapolis City Schools McKnight Head Start, will be changing our process for taking Pre-K applications. Until further notice, we will no longer take applications face to face. Anyone wanting to submit an application for one of our Pre-Kindergarten Programs can call one of the phone numbers listed below to get information about how to access the application. Once you have your application complete, you can call one of the numbers and complete a phone interview. Applications may then be faxed, emailed or mailed to either of the following locations:

UPDATE - APRIL 13, 2020
There are now additional ways to submit an application for Cabarrus County Pre-K. Beginning April 13th, completed applications including all supporting documentation may be dropped off at any of the kindergarten registration drop boxes located outside of all Kannapolis City Schools elementary schools and in the drop box located outside of the DHS building at 1301 S Cannon Blvd. Kannapolis. The application and all documents must be sealed in an envelope with “Cabarrus Pre-K” written on the outside. Once the applications are received you will be mailed a receipt to let you know it has been received and being processed.
