Register for Kindergarten

Kindergarten enrollment is happening now!

Children 5 years old on or before August 31, 2024 are eligible to be enrolled for the 2024-2025 school year.

Cabarrus County Schools

Children 5 years old on or before August 31, 2024, are eligible to register for kindergarten.

Required documents

  1. Photo ID of Parent/Legal Guardian
  2. Child's Birth Certificate with Parent name(s)
  3. Child's Immunization Record
  4. Proof of Domicile (2 required, see below)
    • Source 1: Deed, current lease, closing, settlement statement or property tax statement showing the property is owned or rented by you and is within the school's boundaries
    • Source 2: Current utility bill with the correct address, recent pay stub, Medicaid card, or motor vehicle registration.
  5. Kindergarten Health Assessment and Immunizations: This is required by North Carolina Statute. Students who do not have this completed after 30 days following the start of school will not be allowed to attend until the requirements are met. All schools and local physicians are aware of the requirements and have the proper forms that are needed for documentation. Parents can also print the NC Assessment Transmittal Form from their Scribbles account.

Kannapolis City Schools (kcs)

Any child who reaches the age of 5 years old on or before August 31, 2024 is eligible to register for kindergarten.

Required Documents

  1. Proof of Domicile (1 required, see below)
  2. Child's Immunization Record
  3. Child's Birth Certificate with Parent name(s) - child must be five years old on or before August 31, 2024
  4. Photo ID of Parent/Legal Guardian
    • Current utility bill or
    • Current lease agreement or
    • Current rental receipt or
    • Current contractor agreement for a primary residence with verification of a utility bill to follow.
    • Student’s birth certificate
    • Copy of Parent/Guardian ID
  5. Kindergarten Health Assessment and Immunizations: This is required by North Carolina Statute. Students who do not have this completed after 30 days following the start of school will not be allowed to attend until the requirements are met. All schools and local physicians are aware of the requirements and have the proper forms that are needed for documentation.

Cabarrus County Pre-K

Children who are not old enough to attend kindergarten in 2024-2025, but will be 4 years old on or before August 31, 2024, may qualify to attend a free, high-quality preschool program in Cabarrus County. Visit the link below for more information about Cabarrus County Pre-K and how to apply.
