Cabarrus Share

Cabarrus Share is a pilot program that splits the cost of Child Care between the Employee, Employer, and the State through the Cabarrus County Partnership for Children. This opportunity is funded through a grant and will only be available for 1-2 years.

Mission: To provide an affordable child care option to those who do not qualify for Subsidy Vouchers or NC Pre-Kindergarten, but still struggle to afford quality Early Childhood environments for their children.

Affordable Child Care for Some Cabarrus Employees

cabarrus share graphic min

One of the biggest problems for young families in the workforce is the cost of child care — resulting in more and more parents being left out of the workforce. Cabarrus Share Grant Program, an innovative Public Private Partnership in Cabarrus County, was created to change all that.

Through the Cabarrus Share Grant Program, a participating employer can contribute a flat fee for an employee’s child care cost — and the Cabarrus County Partnership for Children will equally match that flat fee — and the parent will pay the balance of their child tuition.

The Cabarrus County Partnership for Children will coordinate the child care payment with the participating business and the parent’s child care provider. With the Cabarrus Share Grant Program, parents can go to work knowing that their child is safe, cared for and has the opportunity to succeed.

What is in it for the business:

  • Reduce absenteeism
  • You can share a new grant opportunity which is highly desirable that improves recruitment and retention
  • Removes a significant barrier for the employees you need
  • Provides financial relief for your employees by reducing out-of-pocket costs for child care
  • Improves employee work-life-family balance
  • Flexibility to determine your commitment
  • You decide how many child care slots should be offered to employees
  • You set a flat amount of investment and parameters per your employees
  • Employees pay the balance of tuition and all other fees to their child care provider
  • The Cabarrus County Partnership for Children Coordinator will assist your business and provide provides monthly payments to the child care providers

Employees

Lower your Child Care Cost

Through Cabarrus Share Grant Program, the cost of child care is shared equally by your employer and the Cabarrus County Partnership for Children — and then you must pay the balance of tuition and all other fees. That means your tuition cost will be reduced by the grant each month for one year. Plus; you get to choose which child care provider you prefer.

Go to Work Knowing Your Child Is Safe

If the high cost of child care has prevented you from pursuing a great job, look no further than an employer that participates in Cabarrus Share Grant Program.

  • Gives you the confidence of knowing your children are in good care while you’re at work: that they have the opportunity to succeed from day one
  • Helps you find licensed child care providers
  • Improves your work-life-family balance
  • Helps you pursue a career

How it Works

If your employer participates in the Cabarrus Share Grant Program, they will invite you to complete the Cabarrus Share Grant Program Application and the Cabarrus Share Coordinator will contact you once your application is submitted and verified with your employer. At that point your employer will make a contribution for the cost of your tuition and the Cabarrus County Partnership for Children will match that contribution with a grant and that amount will be paid to your child care provider monthly for your child and you will pay the balance of the tuition cost and all the other fees. Which means you can just focus on your family, and enjoy your child care cost savings.

If your employer is participating in Cabarrus Share and you would like to apply:
