PROGRAM DETAILS

Cabarrus County's DPIL program is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting specially-selected, high-quality books to participating young children every month starting with "The Little Engine That Could." Thanks to funding from NC Smart Start, this program is free of charge for participating Cabarrus County children -- all you have to do is enroll them!

Once your child is enrolled in the program, you can expect their first book to arrive in the mail in about eight weeks. A high-quality, age-appropriate book will be mailed to your child every month after that until they are five years old.

M.O.D.E.L.S. Parent Support Groups

M.O.D.E.L.S. (Moms or Dads Enhancing, Learning, Sharing) is a mutual self-help support group designed to assist with challenges of everyday life faced by pregnant/parenting teens and young moms ages 14-21. We provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for parents to share their successes and hardships in parenting. Our group aims to strengthen families, encourage parents, and build character.

What to expect:
Parents who attend the M.O.D.E.L.S. Parent Support Groups can expect to connect with group members. When parents need help with community resources, the group leader will help connect them to local community resources that will help meet their needs. Parents will also be enrolled in a Baby Bucks incentive program where they can earn baby bucks through group attendance to shop for baby supplies after group meetings.

HOW TO APPLY

This program helps Cabarrus County residents who are 14 to 21 years old and have children aged 0-5.
